Kansas City – July 16, 2008 – Rebuilding Management LLC, a company dedicated to rebuilding communities that have been devastated by natural disasters, hosted a gathering of building suppliers from around the country today, and unveiled its award-winning construction-management system.
The system, which received first place for integrated excellence in the 2008 Innovative Housing Technology Awards, uses computer technology to automate the construction process. “It operates like a general contractor, only more efficiently” said Rick Westmoreland, founder and CEO of Rebuilding Management. “Our intention behind the system was to speed up the construction process so that residents displaced by natural disasters could return home more quickly.”
Components of the system include property-damage assessment, cost estimating, material and contractor bidding, purchase and work orders, labor and construction management, and scheduling. The system also serves to connect homeowners with contractors and building suppliers. Through Rebuilding Management’s Internet-based system, suppliers can display products on line, allowing displaced homeowners to make selections on such items as plumbing fixtures, lighting fixtures, flooring, and windows, on line. “This is a terrific opportunity for us,” said David Lindsey of American Distributors. “While the rest of the nation is in a building slump, these communities desperately need our products and services. Rebuilding Management puts us in touch with the people who need us the most.”
Other guests at the event included representatives from Design Lighting, Armstrong Cabinets, Vista Window Company, and Mitten Inc.
Rebuilding Management is currently helping to rebuild communities in New Orleans and the Gulf Coast region. “In the wake of Hurricane Katrina, over 350,000 homes were destroyed or severely damaged. The challenge of rebuilding is monumental,” said Westmoreland. “Our alliances with these contractors and building suppliers enable us to meet the challenge.”
